Just One More

My mind is trav’lin’ elsewhere I don’t know what to do I’ve got three days to finish Come up with something new Life’s full of these distractions They just get in the way I start another project Songs come another day But the finish line is coming Will I cross it and succeed? If I put the pen to paper Will the words come, those I need? The melody comes later The words are all that count No instrument can play it That’s a task I must surmount I try a diff’rent rhyme scheme It all still sounds the same If I can’t get this out there No longer in the game But I stare, the clock is ticking Every second fading fast Why a month with so few days left? Just not sure I’m going to last But I’ve noticed that I’ve written Verses, bridges and they rhyme Music’s bug has once more bitten Got one more before it’s time
