FAWM Compositions: FAWM 2017
<<<Previous

After having given FAWM a rest for a couple of years, I decided to once again try out a concept, based on song ideas from my Only Golden Fingers novels. I started out strong with two sets of lyrics, then stumbled and did not complete the goal.
This is what it was supposed to be:
FAWM 2017 Song Ideas
Create fourteen songs supposedly from the 99 - Ninety-Nine Years in the Life of I Mall collection, as described in Chapter “September 2052” of Only Golden Years Could Be So Heavy.
- 1985 - P.I.E.
- 2010 - Teenage Dream
When I look into the news
I see the words that are the muse
For pundits, writers, lyricists and bards
Everything and everywhere
Everyone with no one spared
Finds themselves subjected to the barbs
When I look for sanity - Protest Is Everywhere
When I look for compassion - Power Is Everything
When I seek the good old times - Past Is Eclipsing
When I ask for kinder words - Parley Is Exempted
Fear the future, keep the past
Wonder now if I should ask
Questions, raising, bearing on my mind
Finding I am overwrought
With feelings that are all for naught
It’s always hopeless, no one else is kind
Now I look for light in dark - Progress Is Emerging
And I seek the words that heal - Perfect In Expression
Or I sing with all my heart - Polytone Is Effortless
And I see the colored lights - Purple Is Everywhere
Chorus
D
It was A
just a E7
teenage A
dream
D
That I should be a A
rock E7
star
The girls were always there to scream
I was a rock star
Only life got in the way
I’m not a rock star
Fifty years have passed away
D
I can’t be E7
a rock A
star
But what if my teenage dream
Was not that far-fetched
The songs that are inside me stream
Imagination stretched
And as in my teenage dream
I see myself on stage
Filling halls at every scene
Being all the rage
Chorus
Bridge
All it takes is an attitude
Of competence and gratitude
For those that helped me on the way
And then I’m ready to sing and play
It was just a teenage dream
One I’m now fulfilling
And though it seems a fruitless scheme
Pursuit could be so thrilling
Watch the press and see it happen
Headlines screaming out my name
Soon you’ll all be there and clapping
As I finally find my fame.
Chorus
It was just a teenage dream
That I should be a rock star
The girls were always there to scream
I was a rock star
Only life got in the way
I’m not a rock star
Though fifty years have passed away
I can be a rock star
