11. YOU MAKE ME HATE MY MORNING COFFEE

by Larry Tagg and Chris Rodriguez
After we wrote "Come Back Marie" together, Chris sent me the music to this song, which I immediately loved as a McCartneyesque gem. Chris was already singing the chorus, and it just remained to me to write verses and a bridge that were worthy of the music. When Chris came to Califorrnia next, we went into the studio with Lance and banged it out in an afternoon. I added Bruce on drums later.

You make me hate my morning coffee
It wakes me up when I'm dreaming of you
You make me hate my favorite chair
There's only room for one in there
Oh, no
All the good things have changed, love
Gone from pleasure to pain, love
	I never wanted
I never wanted to love you
	I never wanted
I never wanted to care for you
My life was a bed of roses
Everything was made to order
Now I'm on the corner with a hand-made sign:
"I'll clean your windows for a quarter"
Oh, no
Everything has changed, love
Gone from sun to rain, love . . .
		All my time is spent
Trying to reinvent my way of thinking
		While I'm sinking . . .

Lance Taber -- guitars
Bruce Spencer -- drums
Larry Tagg -- lead and harmony vocals, bass
