#36: airs 4-10 September 1995

The Bottom Line is a legendary New York nightclub. ("Well, Duh.") And even if you live nearby, it's probable you wouldn't have gotten a ticket to see GRAHAM PARKER the nights he played there a few months back. ("Duh, again!") This week, THE DIFFERENCE intends to change all that. With TODD RUNDGREN at the controls, we'll sneak you into the club for a very special mini-concert featuring performances of some of Graham's favorite tunes... Time, space and cover charges mean nothing here...

Also on the bill this week, Lancaster's INNOCENCE MISSION drop by to perform a song featured not only on their incredible album "Glow," but onw which also appears in the forthcoming film, "Empire Records." The band will chat about records, too... specifically, recording them in New Orleans...

PLUS! In-studio recordings from JEWEL, BODEANS and DEL AMITRI... and classic cuts from MARSHALL CRENSHAW, THE CARS, JAMES BROWN and NIRVANA... and fresh new tracks from BEN FOLDS FIVE (ALERT: If you like Todd's music - don't miss this trio from Chapel Hill), BRUCE HORNSBY, FOO FIGHTERS... and the requisite surprises and so forth, as hosted by TODD RUNDGREN.

COMING SOON to THE DIFFERENCE WITH TODD RUNDGREN...

JAMES McMURTRY muses on the state of the in-store performance... KRIS KRISTOFFERSON tells us about breaking into the music business the hard way... MATTHEW SWEET explains his life's defining moment... "Duck and Cover Day," featuring in-studio renditions of your favorite tunes as performed by the likes of JILL SOBULE (and Friends), NICK LOWE, HAPPY RHODES, MELISSA ETHERIDGE, LIVE and many more!
